Well, it’s been long enough. Life has taken many unexpected twists. Some good and some bad. Either way, a new chapter is being written. Where to start?! Found a 180g glass tank and stand that Danny had. On the way home, someone made an unexpected lane change in front of me and....POP went the tank bottom. So now I had trash to get rid of. Stand and canopy weren’t my taste so it’s time to start over. Then I found a 180 acrylic that was boasted as a beauty.....NOT! Scratched to hell and the stand and canopy were junk as well. All is not lost. Tank can be sanded and buffed out. Which is what will happen. So the creative juices started flowing. Time to make a stand and canopy. But make one big enough for a 300g upgrade and enough room to fit all the equipment. One thing I learned from last 240 build was....keep your power and controller out of the sump area. 1 desert trip and everything failed while I was gone. So I have started my stand a few days ago and things just keep getting more and more detailed as I go. I have built a separate power panel that is part of the stand but walled off with a full height bulkhead. The sump area is waterproof to allow for a seam break of a sump, failed check valve on return pump or an overflow from an ATO. I calculate it will hold 36g. I found a great sump on here from Clint that is an old 100g tank that’s been baffled. In operation it will hold 56g. Bought a Current USA Loop system with a second LED bar from Al. I then found a Reef Octopus 200INT skimmer from Zane. I also acquired some acrylic maintenance items from a nice lady who tore her system down. Trying my best to get the tank ready and in place before shoulder reconstruction surgery in December. Not gonna get it cycling cause I won’t be able to do maintenance for a few months afterwards. I thought I was clever incorporating stained glass in my last cube build 10 years ago but I think I may have gotten the idea from Dave or, there was just a couple great ideas floating around at the time. But I will say this, when it’s done, I think this, will be something you’re not gonna expect. I like working with mixed media. Wood/glass. This time.....
Without further babbling I’ll post some pics of progress.
