      Dehumidifier necessary?

Getting back in the hobby, I have been to some members houses whose tanks are in their garages. I would like to do an in wall for my next build where everything will be in the garage. I'm currently running a small 20g in there for the last month, and with no ventilation at all in the garage, it seems to be very humid. Garage stays fairly cool, no excessive evaporation, and temp of tank has remained under 80°. No cars or tools are in there, but concerned about my bicycles rusting and possible mold issues down the line. So my question: Is a dehumidifier necessary and do any members with tanks in the garage use one?

I would just to be on the safe side, that's a lot of open water to evaporate especially when we start to get into the hotter summer months. Amazon has some pretty good whole room dehumidifiers, we got one for our bedroom and it's amazing how much water it pulls out of the air.

Should I purchase one based on size of garage or consider tank size? Again, just running 20g but hoping to have 200g or more DT plus large sump.

I would just get one for the size of your garage, if anything might just double the square foot and go with that.

You could also try running a variable speed exhaust fan. that will bring in fresh air and exhaust hot humid air from the garage
