      Euphyllia (Hammer) Question

Never really had any euphyllia in my tanks before, but thought they'd be easier to keep in my classroom tank than sps. Wanted to see if the "holes" in the skeleton of my hammer is normal or something to be concerned about. I don't recall seeing them until I came back to school after a week break.

It could possibly be from a lack of calcium/alk, or elevated co2 to the point the skeleton is dissolving. I'm guessing low alk/cal. Do you dose?

They may be easier to keep, but have a high demand for all/calcium

      What's your ph?

Also agree with T on them having a high alk demand...that being said I wouldn't stress on the skeleton breaking too much as long as it's not new growth (maybe the cal level was low during the time of growth for that part)

Check the levels on cal, alk and ph

Thanks for the responses guys,! Currently, not dosing. Was hoping weekly WC would be enough. That being said, I'm doing a wc tomorrow which will be a 2 week span due to Spring break. Will try and test water tomorrow.

Looks like it's most likely an alkalinity issue. Tested today with Salifert kit and it was 5.7 dkh I thought 5g water changes every 7-10 days would Keep water stable. Do you think I should set up a doser? I was trying to keep this tank simple and with minimal equipment.

I have both Soda Ash and sodium bicarbonate from BRS. Should I use one over the other?

either will be fine, i think the main difference is the soda ash will have more of an effect on the ph where the bicarb wont.

You can just bake regular baking soda and use it as alk
