      Help!

So my sump is leaking badly. I drained the water out and put the heater in the tank. I have about 1200 gph of flow with my powerheads running. How long is that viable? I will get a sump tomorrow. On that note would a 20g sump work for a 55 gallon? Anybody know where I can buy one? Anyone selling one? Just hope they're ok until tomorrow night

They should be ok through the night. Point the powerhead toward the surface of the water to help with gas exchange. A 20 g should work fine for a makeshift sump.

As long at there's flow and heat you're ok. If you start to see a meniscus on the surface then you need to address that like mentioned above and what Ty mentioned about gas exchange is good too. Other than that you're fine, I've ran tanks sumpless while doing work on the sump or plumbing several times for days on end without problems.

If you need a tank and you're close hmu, I have a bunch I'm not using atm

Honestly I wouldn’t waste the time setting up a temporary sump if you’re going to get a new one tomorrow. If you already put the heater in your display, you should be good to go if you just point the powerhead up towards the water to help with gas exchange like said above. You’re essentially trying to get a bit of air into the display by disrupting the surface water.

By doing that, he will be completely fine until tomorrow. There are people out there that don’t even use Sumps at all.

Ok thank you guys. I put the heater in the DT and have the powerheads pointed up to help with oxygen. Now my search for a sump and quicky. Problem is the tank is only a month old so I'm worried on a bio standpoint. Right now I have a wet dry with bio balls. I'm looking with going for the pro clear 100 reef sump. maybe throw a skimmer in there or something. my overflow right now is two inches and the return is 1 inch. pump works fine. I guess I'm just looking for a replacement that is familiar to me. Pro clear also makes the same one I have with the bio balls still. Mine has just sat in the garage for 9 years so I think the glue holding it just went out. It's only a 11 gallon tank so undersized for my 55 gallon which is why i might as well just upgrade. Any thoughts on a system or where I should get it?

If it will fit, I have a euro fil 180 sump 30x16x12. You can have it for some IPA’s

My tank is a 55 gallon so its 48 long. from front to back is 19 inches but i dont think if it went over a little it would be a big deal. and i have about 30 inches of from top to bottom to work with. where are you located? IPA's are always doable!

I’m in El Cajon. I’m at work right now but could have someone there to give it to you if you need it before 4pm when I get home
