I have the same ones too. I was told they were Gorilla Nipples but when you google it they come in a different color. The tentacles are green. I cannot find an online retailer that sales it with more data. So how do I know for sure it is a Gorilla Nipple?
FijiSurfer ! According to (Dunham, Horrigan and Duguay) in Microbial nitrogen transformation in unconsolidated reef sedimenents, in the Marine Ecology Progress Series, the porosity of the live rock allows the interiors to contain dentrifying bacteria which in return allow dissolved materials in the denitrification cycle to diffuse into and out of the live rock (Muller 28: 1004-1008). To answer your question, the zoanthids actually produce a bioload into an aquarium, instead, the live rock helps with the filtration of the tank. Other Filtrations would include Media, Granular Ferric Oxide (GFO), Carbon, along with other sources of filtration including and not limited to Protein Skimmers.
Hello Cloud777x,
You have a point about the exact original Gorilla nipples. It seems that a better indication would be presented as a Variation of Gorilla Nipples!
okay thanks. I have gorilla nipples than too =p. Such a shame no one in the community has created a database for identifying zoas by colors.
