      HELP! Zoas and acans dying

As the tittle says. My zoas and acans died. The wierd thing is

      1. Only zoas and acans everything else is growing (frogspawn, mushrooms, favias, hammers, Duncans, birds nest, montipora, chalice, gap)
      2. They died 1 at a time. (1 of the zoaz was growing fast some makes me believe something was prob eating it)

I don't have any fish that would pick at the (clowns, firefish, damsel)
I only got snails and hermits crabs as invertebrates. I had/have maybe an emerald crab but I haven’t seen it in months. And 1 cleaner shrimp

Highly doubt it’s the water since everything else is growing and colorful.

      Hey man,
Sorry to hear about the zoas and acans. I know you say you doubt it’s the water, but it still may be. I’d run all the standard tests and post them when you get a chance. I’d also do a WC to be safe.

      Any other changes or additions?

Being that acans died as well leads more towards parameter or fish predator problem.
Normally if just zoas only die 1 at a time possibilities are...
      Zoa spider
      *Nudibranch
      Asterinas
Fungal/bacterial issue that can kill corals
      Chemical warfare
Otherwise it's always a hidden water parameter or stray voltage issue

Yeah there's a ton of stars in there. Little bristle stars they look like. They get in between the rock so it's hard to take them out.

I dont have any predators maybe jsut the crab but I haven't seen it in forever. I'll have to.keep an eye out as I think something must be munching on them

Do those stars eat coral? Will the Harlequin shrimp eat bristle stars?

You guys are probably talking about the little asterina starfish not bristle's right? Asterina's are a pain and they will eat your zoas for sure. Get rid of them as they propagate quick. They usually come out at night (lights off)...that's when you can get most of em suckers!

Those mini bristles wont be the problem, theyre harmless. Just the asterinas are said to eat zoas(some people have had a problem some havent). Things I have learned in the past, zoas are sensitive to salinity fluctuations, not enough current passing by them, or too much light. You might also want to bust out a flashlight at night and check for nudibranchs....now those things will destroy.
