What’s the Best LFS to get store credit ?
I have anemones that I’m not going to put in my new tank.
Sell them here...
Sell them on here. Stores are going to give you 30% of what they sell for. That means if they want to list your anenome of $60, they will give you $20. Store credit is a last resort for me
I like AW because I usually trade for dry goods.
Yeah, AW will always take whatever you have and give you credit
$30 each or 2 for $50 or all 10 for $200

I think that’s a good point depending on demand. For example, I’ve played Magic: The Gathering since the beginning and it’s become a quasi-stock market. Many people ask crazy high prices for some cards but it doesn’t mean they actually sell at those prices. Demand is what corrects it. If let’s say I find one example of a bounce mushroom/ Bloodshot Krakatoa paly inter-species hybrid, I would obviously ask a lot for it. This would however shrink the buyer pool down considerably and I might have that frag for years until the right buyer comes along. Online shops/ LFS who sell online can get away with higher prices simply due to having a higher volume of potential buyers who are willing to fork out more than 30% value because to them, there just aren’t other options to find those frags. What it comes down to is we’re all here looking for the best deal on stuff and shouldn’t be too surprised at low-ball offers. It’s a buyers market for sure and I’m ok with it.

Is there an NSRP (natures suggested retail price) that is established somewhere? Obviously some landlocked person in Ohio is gonna be willing to pay more than what we in SD would deem “worth it” to get something he has no acces to otherwise. There are more than likely many things those types would pay higher prices for. Doesn’t mean that’s what it’s worth. LFS for years ran off a 3x markup, and many still do. I know the one I shop at in El Cajon does: what they pay $20 for wholesale should be sold for $60 in the store. That’s why they’ve always done 1/3 credit. Shoot, Ron used to give 50% credit, and didn’t even care if he already had
The same thing in stock. He’d give you 1/3 if you wanted cash. And everyone loved shopping there because of his attitude towards money and the hobby
Both of these are completely legit responses. Price isn't a big problem in my opinion. I'm in the same boat, just swatting the bee hive.
What irks the hell our of me is that so many people treat this hobby as a business. People posting $750 worth of frags FS on the board with a note that says 'need money for light bulbs, no trades' People light this can felate a hot curling iron IMO..
