      Coral ID

This coral popped up out no where about 2 months ago. It's kind of cool but growing really quickly... And not really a place where I wanted to do... Anyone know what it is?
It has a solid stony skeleton and maybe a couple mm long polyps. If I blast them they will retract.

Yeah it's a poci... they are one of the few corals that do polyp bailout and successful broadcast spawning in home reefs

If you wanna geek out on the topic there's some really interesting literature out there on the matter... here's a start https://journals.plos.org/plosone/ar...l.pone.0050847

Thanks Dan...in depth article...kind of cool, but now I am worried about it taking over tank. I just found another "sprout". That other green birdsnest i got from you is also a fast grower. I think Ill put it on a frag plug until I know where I want it; or if I want it..since my tank is a green machine.
