      Rockscape help

Well nearing the time to get the 280 wet. Lots to check off the list.

I am terrible at scape work and would really appreciate any fellow reefers that have the time or inclination to stop by for a cold beverage and maybe help me push some rocks around on my table.

Inconviently located in Otay Ranch - Eastlake area.

One of my favorite parts of setting up a new tank. Are you using live rock or dry rock? Makes it a whole lot easier if it's dry. You can take your time drilling and glueing a rearranging the rock

I have a lot of new dry rock plus some live to move over from my established 90g.

Some great pieces and just trying to figure out how to best lay it out. Being new to the hobby I'm always hoping to learn from the more seasoned folks that may have insight as to why I may or may not want to go a particular route.

Jetli619....same boat here and mine frequently reminds me lol

Getting closer to getting the tank wet.

Question regarding drilling and using acrylic rods....what's the danger of doing this on existing live rock? I have a lot of rock in my 90 and was planning on carrying some of that over. I would like to possibly stack some of these pieces by drilling and connecting with rods. Am I risking a cycle by doing this? I'd estimate the rocks being out of water for a few minutes at a time, plus the drilling.

You can drill LR no problem, just keep it damp.
The only thing that may die off is sponge, if there is a lot you could scrub and dunk it, but really that's not a big issue.
I set rock in brutes, pull some pieces, set on a ply template, see what fits, drill, play around w/it, it's probably out of water an hour or so, and I might drip SW on it if it's getting dry, but really reefs are often exposed to air half a day maybe on low tides, it's not an issue.
