Devastating Week At Reefers! Time To Rebuild

As some of you already know our tanks were sabotaged last weekend and we lost about 75% of our stock. Needless to say we are devastated by what transpired. Regardless of this set back, we are going to continue to push forward. We are reaching out to the SD Reefs Community to help re build our inventory. With that being said we are looking to purchase large amounts of coral but would like to keep it in the SD Reefs Community. Anyone looking to clear out some space in their tanks, or are growing out their corals, please let us know what you have available (760) 936-1288. We deeply appreciate it and all of your continued support throughout the past 6 years. We could not have done it without you guys. We are not going to let this set back make us go anywhere.

I picked up 2 small rocks from you last weekend and my new tank went into massive algae bloom immediately afterwards. I was wondering if it is related. I chalked it up as just new tank issue. but maybe not?

Once again this makes me sick. I was there yesterday and picked up a few wrasses. Pisces me off that someone would do this to love animals. Hang in there! Rebuild even better.

how did you figure out someone sabotaged your system?

We lost 75% of our coral in a matter of 6 hrs. Sent out an ICP test waiting on results. All parameters were/are perfect that we can test for. This has also seemed to be a trend happening a lot in this hobby.

We didn't experience any type of algae bloom. Just rapid loss of corals over the period of 6 hrs on a 600 gallon system. We are assuming chlorine, ammonia, or some type of heavy metal that we cannot detect.

Get and keep a water sample, could be the water from the city if that’s where your supply comes from during water changes. Saw a YouTube vid where this guy sued the water company and won. Levels were too high from tap water.

I wish it was as easy as source water but unfortunately we have multiple other systems doing great we've also tested the waters

Yes he did I just spoke with him on the phone and it seems like we had the same exact thing happen based on the way the corals reacted

Wouldn’t you be able to narrow down who was there during the time frame and video footage of this action?

We were very busy had about 50 customers in last Saturday and as you know when people are looking at the tanks their hands or over the tanks the whole time looking through viewers pointing at fragg's and other things so it's very very hard to pinpoint exactly when this happened I've looked over the video countless times but just can't be definitive
