      Rhodactis vs Symphyllia

I have a rhodactis mushroom that, for some reason, continually seems to move towards a large, stationary Symphyllia colony. (Guessing symphyllia- def a brain) the rhodactis loses terribly at chemical warefare as does most of what touches the symph. I’ve had to pull them apart a couple of times. Is there a chemical being sent out from the symphyllia (pheromones?) that attracts the mushroom to its inevitable death or is it just a coincidence?

Sounds like a love-hate relationship ...Or maybe your mushroom is a masochist?

if its reaching that way if possible glue a piece of live rock between them.so.it grows upward on the rock, rather than towards and against the other coral.

Moved the rhody (what’s left of him) to the other side of a 180... if he makes his way back over there I’m gonna be super weirded out. He is mounted on rubble but roams more than any of my nems. On a positive, the symphyllia has some nice color and is obviously happy after his latest snack... and thankfully I got that masochist (col) away from him in time that recovery seems likely. The symph has sucked up a few frags in the past and I’ve always attributed it to a CUC bump or a wrasse knocking them on their way to bed... now I’m not sure there’s not something more sinister going on.
