      Aiptasia help

So I semi recently acquired a new system and combined my old with the new. The new system had a little bit of aiptasia in it. I didn’t think too much of it at the time but it’s progressively getting worse. I’ve added a dozen or so peppermint shrimp but it doesn’t seem to be helping. I was reading that they really don’t go after the big ones and generally stick to the babies. Even if that’s so I’m still seeing more big ones appear. Was wondering if anyone had a manjo wand I could borrow or rent, I would be willing to put down a big deposit on it to ensure you got it back. Or if anyone had some known good livestock that could help me with the problem that I could borrow. Any help would be much appreciated, really want to get these thing in check before they get out of control. Thanks for your time, and happy reefing!

Sorry to here about the aiptasia issues.

I’ve got a majano wand. Send me a PM and I’d be happy to loan it to you.

Be careful with excess mounts of peppermints they can target corals as a snack

can we get more details on your tank? how many gallons? what fish you have? how much food are you putting in there? usually you need to starve the peppermint shrimps before they start eating the aiptasias. at least that's from my experience.

best to train in a separate coral free tank.

120 gal, with 60 gal sump, with refuge section. Have a recirculating bp reactor and gfo carbon reactor along with a big reef octopus Diablo skimmer. For live stock I have a mandarin goby, regal angel , yellow tang, blue tang, six line, harquarium shrimp, a pair of cleaner shrimp, and a dozen peppermint shrimp. Tank parameters are 79 deg, salinity 1.026, alk 8.2, cal 420, mag 1350, nitrate 0 phosphate .03. I Had a nitrate problem which is why I put in the bp reactor. Once it came fully online and knocked nitrates down to zero I hurried up and modded it to a recirculating reactor. It’s now fully closed and I’m trying to bring nitrates back to around 3-5 ppm so I’m feeding heavy at the moment.
