Clown death

I fed my fish today and I noticed my large clown had a huge piece of food in his mouth. I didnt think about it too much until two hours later I look at the tank and no clown. Can a fish choke on a piece of food too big. I found him laing behind a rock and he was barely moving and eventually he died.

Yes, they CAN choke. Don't think it's a usual ocurrence, but I've lost one or two fish in my life due to choking. One actually choked on a rock, but still; it happens.

Thanks for the great laugh on the choking fish . I just had a LTA sucked into the skimmers power head in my tank at work and it released some white stuff. Didn't think much of it and thought the skimmer would catch it over night, but this morning . The tank and skimmer overflowed with foam onto the ground. Also the five damsels I had in there died . Only one surviver, a clown fish and of course the LTA.

When I pulled him out he had some rocks in his mouth too. I pulled him off the bottom so I dont know if that just happened when he was laying on the bottom. I will make sure the food gets chopped up into smaller piecesx next time.

They were just starting to take to my RBTA too. Dang!!!!!

I actually had to net one of my clowns and pull a chunk of food out of it's mouth for the same reason.
