      Help!

So apparently my alkalinity pretty high that all the gsp and leather haven't opened for the passed 2 days. I did 30% water change and it's still the same. Both my fire and cleaner shrimp aren't eating either. Can someone please help me on to get it fixed?!?!?

      Much appreciated!

      Heres my number 858-366-5646

I would double check ALL parameters.

How is the PH? Is it also too high?

If the PH and ALK are both too high, you can add in RO water to counteract (being sure not to drop the salinity too low)

Did you mix your own salt water? Depending on the brand some salt mixes have high Alk levels such as the Red Sea pro mix. I also wouldn’t go crazy with the lowering, depending on how long the tank has been sitting with the high Alk levels lowering it drastically can shock the entire tank.

No, I get water from scrips. Do I need to buy a new skimmer?

A skimmer has nothing to do with alkalinity.

Alkalinity is a measure of how stable your PH is.

My alkalinity is over 5.59. I did a big 2ater change 2 days ago. I'm afraid if I do another change, I'll lose water quality. My tank has been running 3 years well established until now

Maybe I am missing something but 5.59 is actually low. Normal range is 7 to 11. I keep mine at 8.3

okay yes 15.7 would be high. If you are dosing stop, that would be why your numbers are high there is no need to dose unless you have to.

I’m pretty sure Scripps water by itself tends to have LOW PH and Alk, rather tHan high..

So, the extremely high ALK would be from something else you are dosing in manually — DONT ADD ANY MORE! Doing a water change WITHOUT adding in any PH/Alk additives should lower the Alk
