      50/50 lighting

I am still new to all this so bare with me. I just set up my Nano24 and it has the 50/50 lighting. What are these lights good for compared to having separate blue/white lights. The ballast only have one switch so both lights have to be on at the same time.
Can someone explain the differences and if certain livestock won't work with the 50/50 setup.

50/50 lighting is basicly one power compact bulb (PC) wich has one side emit actinic blue and the other half 10k white light. Most people like it that way because just 10k lights would be to yellow and the actinic makes the corals glow and gives a nice blueisch tint to the tank

Neither actinic nor white light will be detrimental(sp?) to any livestock you might get. Corals and photosynthetic organisms grow/live/feed mainly off of the white light, but the purple corraline algae grows almost entirely off of the actinic light. Actinic supplements the photosynthetic organisms and helps the colors to 'pop' and look more vibrant.
