      First build

Well after a couple AIO tanks it's time to upgrade to the next level.

I've put together the following items, feel free to comment if you see something terribly wrong.

Tank: 90 Gallon, used fair condition, has some scratches, not drilled or "reef ready" 48x18. I'll be researching polishing the tanks scratches and hoping I can do it myself.

Stand: Used good condition, 48x15. Planning on adding 2x4 or 2x6 frame to the back to make sure the rear of the tank is supported at the same height.

Sump: Used (Thanks Gus!) flawless condition.

Pump: tested and seems to run strong. I also have a Pam-em external but don't really want to drill the sump. Open to picking up another return.

Overflow...I need to source some black acrylic would like to put in a center mounted tower and drill the bottom of the tank so I can put the tank up against the wall.

Long term I plan on mostly softies and LPS with some entertaining fish. I don't have a stocking list yet but will get there.

Sanded the tank this weekend, will finish polishing it this week as well as extending the back side of the stand.

I'm at a point where I am looking for guidance on the overflow. I'd like to put in a center or off-center internal overflow similar to this. Not sure if it is even possible with the bracing on this tank. I have seen where others have cut an access hole in the bracing but not sure what the thoughts are on this.

Feel free to chime in with thoughts or feedback. The primary reason for an internal overflow "tower" is that I would prefer not to have to stand the tank off the wall to accommodate plumbing, I'd rather it sat flush.

Here's the top of the 90 and the bracing I am concerned with. Putting in a center overflow would require cutting an access hole. Probably not good to do that with 900lbs

      Any thoughts on other options?

Nice build. For acrylic, Eplastics Ridex in Clairmont. There is a place in up north but I don't know that one off hand.

As far as placing the overflow, yea that's a pain. You probably saw this. https://www.midwestcustomaquariums.c...arium-options/
You'd have to cut a center opening like the second pic marked Trapezoid.

Although honestly Dual towers would be the safer bet.

      Thanks Crabby.

I think that avoiding cutting the brace is the best bet so looks like I will do an overflow off the back of the tank rather than the bottom.

Hoping to have some pics of everything in the next couple of days. Looks like I have a buyer for my C-Vue 45 and need to transfer over by this weekend to make that happen. Gonna be a tight schedule.

Ended up getting the 16 inch shadow overflow and drilled the tank this weekend, plumbing help done with a fellow reefer.

Going to finish the return side this evening and need to choose a new return pump.
