cheato.. chaeto everywhere

I'm having a little problem because the refuge part of my sump was an after thought. I'm forced to put cheato in the 2nd chamber and my skimmer and return pump in the 3rd chamber. I can't move them because of my poor design. i'm thinking about putting a mesh net over some egg crate between the baffles. Does anyone know if something like this is reef safe?

Optimally i'd like to design a new stand but with a potential of me selling it all and moving out of state at the end of the year, i don't want to spend the time or money to do a total redo.

I finer mesh like that would clog up with chaeto bits and cause a backup or total blockage of not caught. Egg crate is pretty good enough to keep it from flowing over into the next chamber.

Look up knitting mesh. It’s rigid and the holes are small enough to keep the chaeto contained.

You can buy some mesh at hobby lobby its plastic and less than 2 dollars for a sheet in the knitting section. I cut mine for my aio chamber and works great
