DC Skimmers. Great new upgrade or Fad.

Sup guys. So I'm looking for a new skimmer for about 120gal high bio load and I'm interested in your opinions on DC Skimmers. I like the lower run cost but the adjustable speed doesn't make sense to me as I believe most of us would run it at 100%. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Nyos 160 would do great for a 120 with heavy bioload I run it on my 85 gallon with 18 fish with no issues. Hands down the most quite skimmer on the market my mp40qd are louder than the slimmer lol. Don’t go DC it’s a waste like you said 100% power is what you need

I have one.of the new.deltec dc skimmers and it.pulls some.nasty stuff out. I adjust the speed only after a restart after a weekly cleaning, helps the skimmer.find.that sweet spot quickly again.
But I do run it at 100% after I do the 15 minute restart speed adjustmemt.

I like being able to dial it back if I notice it going bezerk for whatever reason.

I have a pretty oversized dc skimmer for my tank, I like that I don’t have to run it at 100% and as others have said I can turn it down if it starts to go crazy for some reason
