      what heater do you use?

My eheim heater is on the fritz and i'm looking to overnight a replacement. Whats the latest reasonably priced hotness? Should i stick with eheim or should i go with a different brand. I'd like to stay with submersible so it can be in the sump. my sump water height is only 9.5 inches. i'd be in the 150 - 200w range i think.

I haven't been thoroughly impressed with eheim - especially as a German made product.

I use Aqueon adjustables due to their lifetime warranty. haven't really had an issue with one and I have about 5 of them now.

I have had two of the finnex heaters and have been very impressed. Easy to set, holds the temp steady, and has a digital readout that can be mounted anywhere for easy viewing

cobalt neo-therm 200w had the old one it gave out, warranty replaced with the newer version running past 1yr+ no issues. Within 1 degree swing as stated.

thanks all. i'll look all the recommended ones. my tank got down to about 72 and my current heater was still flaking so i went and bought on the 78degree aqueon heaters to buy me a little time.(that was all that the petco next door had)

I think some time back eheim bought out jaeger, but never made any changes to their design, and while jaeger used to be good, they had some issues towards the end.
There are not many eheim things I don't like, guess their heater and the compact pumps, which also were a company buyout w/out changes to design.

I have a finnex that has held up a long time, and backup aqueon heater as well.

I strongly suggest running 2 heaters instead of just one, both being slightly more than half the watts you need.
This way, if one fails, the changes should be very slow, and you should notice before it's a serious issue, many have gone this route, much safer.

My finnex has a digital readout, I see that every time I open cab to empty skimmer or do whatever maintenance, so I know where mines at, or supposed to be at pretty much at all times.

I’ve been using the finnex hmo heaters, keeps the temp within a degree although I’ve noticed that the temp readout on them is questionable and should be double checked.
