      Water jugs only last so long.

      So found out, it's a good idea to replace these thin walled plastic jugs every few years to keep this from happening... This one was about five years old.

      $15 each, 365 days a year for 5 years is worth it!

      Walmart sells a blue plastic water jug that is more durable and slightly larger than 5 gallons, in the sporting goods section.

      +1 on that probably being sun damage...plastic left out in the direct sun weakens it's strength drastically. If you do need to leave things outside, cover them with a tarp or something to block the direct uv-rays
