      I hear ya. But isn't a lot of that gunk actually stuff the filter feeders and such eat? Like plankton etc??

      I have a 100 micron filter.... and plankton (phyto)is much smaller than that... so no.. plus, when I feed, I shut off my returna dn let my closed loops circulate for an hour... plus the organics can build, increasing nitrated, OR allowing alage to blossom.
