      New Ideas for the tank.

I have been working on my 150 gallon lately. It has a sump that is ~40 gallons.
Some of the things I've been wondering about are:
Making a refugium in the middle compartment. Has anyone used the refugium mud? is it worth it? the middle section in only about 15 gallons. Is that even big enough to make a difference?

Do you guys use filter socks? I'm debating redoing the plumbing into my sump and adding a filter sock. would that be worth it? if you guys use them, how often do you change them out? do you just rinse them in the sink and reuse them?

How much flow do you guys have going through your sump? low flow or hi flow, and why?

      thanks for the info!

Filter socks are a nice option, I rinse them when they get dirty but only run them if I am stirring up the tank during cleaning to catch mobilized detritus.

Flow in the tank is important because the corals get nutrients and oxygen and waste removal. Flow in the sump isn’t doing the same processes, although if your sump was huge it might tend to get stagnant but for your system I don’t think that will be an issue. It’s a good question though...
