How to pack coral & fish to move to Texas!

      Hi,

So I'm really leaning towards moving out state to Texas. Around end of July. I want to keep my coral and fish. Anyone have experience on packing coral in a box and driving across to another state. I'm going to be driving a Uhaul out to Texas in the forth worth area. Any of your help would be appreciated. Maybe can ship it to my mom's out there. What is a better way and what's the cost. Few pieces of live rock. I will also be taking my Nuvo fusion 25 shallow with me.

From my location the drive to Fort Worth is 1362 miles, and about 20 hours to drive straight through.
If all you are moving is the tank, and if you can drive straight through and then stay awake to unpack the tank then your plan to move your tank to Texas could work.
Packing Fish & rock & coral for a 24 hour trip is not any different than bringing these home from the pet store. Put the fish in water in bags and keep them insulated so they don’t heat up or freeze. Bring along a few buckets for the tank water and put everything back. In the tank when you get to Texas.
Of course the road to Texas will likely be 100F in June. If I was going to attempt a move that distance I would only bring a few of my favorite specimens because trying to unpack a crowded tank in Texas after Driving all night I would be so tired Id probably fall asleep when I was trying to fill the tank and wake up later to a bunch of dead critters in bags.

Having to setup a tank, do a water change, etc is likely the last thing you are going to want to do / have energy for / have time for immediately after moving..

I would consider finding someone to hold your livestock for you here in SD. Get over to your new place. Get setup. Get the tank going. A week or so later have the person holding your livestock ship the livestock to you. Much less stress on you and the livestock. The livestock will have a stable home to go into this way.

Perhaps look for a store or individual that already ships livestock. They will have the tools and knowledge (and possibly better shipping rate) to ship for you.

Hey guys picked up a nice pair of some nice Picassos. The pair is about 5 months old. The mom of the pair is a Bali aquarich Picasso. Awesome colorations. Hopefully they do well in my tank. Really excited to see how they turn out in a year from now.

If anyone is interested to know where I got them from is Reeflove. Member here on the forum known breeder. Has other types check them out.
