      Nothing fancy but it works.

Right after setup. I can run this with and without filter socks.

A little later, skimmer has kicked in.

Lol yea I wanna make the switch to Cal Reactor but I’m to much of a noob when it comes to it and don’t wanna kill anything. Also I hate dosing trace elements by hand that’s why I set up another doser

I find it strange that so many reefers are afraid of Ca reactors. I think it is one of the easiest and bullet proof pieces of equipment to add. I have run one since 1995. My current one I built myself in 1997 when there were no commercial ones of large size. A large reef full of SPS is simply too big to dose because of cost in my opinion.

I will eventually make the switch I’m dosing 96ml of alk and cal a day which is a crazy amount. I just don’t really know we’re to start. I’ve did a lot of research just don’t know how the coral will do in between the phases of getting rid of doser and switching to cal reactor

Dude a calcium reactor is 10x less co fusing then all those dosing co tai era and tubes. Calcium reactors may be intimidating but I’ll never go back to dosing. It’s the easiest thing to setup on my system and requires the least amount of maintenance. I can help you set one up.

Thank you guys for the inspiration.
Here a couple of pics of my setup. It’s my first reef tank. Going to run LEDs underneath on a door actuated switch. Also, the current fuge light is temporary. I’m picking up a 150w grow light off eBay that will hang off the makeshift setup you see in the back. Appreciate any feedback.
