      Tapio's 265 gal peninsula build

This thread is 1 year overdue but here it is. I used to have 2 tanks one 130 gal and a 75 gal connected to the same sump. Many of you who bought corals from me remember them. I decided to combine them into a new tank that I got from Crystal Dynamic Aquarium in Oceanside. The sump was made by my friend John Polk of Tyd-Pool Marine in Santee.

The new reef is 7 foot long, 30" wide and 24" tall. It is made of 3/4" Starfire glass with 1/4" recessed Eurobrace. The extra glass thickness made it possible to avoid a center cross brace.

Here is the happy moving crew. Bro Jason S is missing from the picture. Thank you again guys!

Tank arriving and moved. Those were nervous moments but it all went.

All fish, live rock and corals etc were kept in this gigantic tank Chris Gagnon from SD Corals let me borrow. He also brought it to my house. Thanks Chris!

Plumbing begins. You won't find any neon colored PVC here, lol.

Securing rock work with my favorite marine epoxy, Z-Spar Splash Zone Compound A-788. This stuff cures harder than rock and attaches great to live rock or anything for that matter.

I was able to place the rock to my liking relatively quick and I secured it with Z-Spar. The corals turned out to be different game. I tried initially to keep and transfer my huge acros to the new reef but eventually decided to reduce colonies to a small size and also to be able to acquire new different species.

Not surprised it came out looking fantastic Tapio! Did you get the Z-Spar locally? Might have to try it.

The table was growing in a spot I did not want it. Once I got it out of the place it separated into four so the mother colony is about the same but twice as big. It is not pictured.

Yes but before it was on the stand I could hardly breathe. I am very happy with how it turned out though. Lot of work but fun.
