No idea what this black stuff is on my live rock

For some reason this black stuff is growing on my live rock. It consumes on of the neon green sponges I had growing and now it is spreading. I siphoned it out and it seems to keep coming back. Any help and solution would be appreciated. Thanks

Looks like either odd colored cyano or dinoflagettes. Google either for solution to your problem

cyanobacterial blankets create zero oxygen zones, that makes the surface turn black.
High phosphates, & or nitrates, possibly indicated.

edit:: obviously this is a bit of a dead thread, just sharing my experience with previous encounters of similar looking growths

If it's hard to siphon out, a fresh water dip will help. Corals should be fine if they're only out for 5-10 minutes. Had to do something similar for cyano growth. I've seen this similar formation in green too - hard to say, but fresh water will do it. (I used straight up tap water, but RO or RODI will work too, spring water.. etc.)
