Buy or make 40 gallon breeder reef

So I have a 10 gallon and a 30 gallon, both are tanks that I just through to together on a budget( hang on back filters, power head, and hang on back skimmer). But I have also had the 10 gallon for 4 years now and 30 gallon for about 2. Now, it is time to try to combine these tanks into one 40 gallon breeder. And the thing is I don't have I a lot of money so I am going to try to keep my costs as low as I can, while at the same time trying to make a quality setup. Do you guys think is more cost effective buy materials myself, plumb, and build or try to buy a set up from a fellow reefer? Also, not too worried about lighting at this point( I know it is gonna be pretty expensive but would like worry the other stuff first). Thanks for your guys' input 👍👍👍

cHRoNzZe had some free tanks laying around recently.

It might be easier to get a reply to this post if you figure out what your dream system is that you could maintain, (space, gallons, etc) and then post telling people what you are looking for.
People who look through these adds might not recognize that they have exactly what you want sitting in their garage unless you spell out pretty clearly what you hope to find.

From a fellow budget/DIY reefer: Hope this helps!

Ok, thanks Kris. Been trying to wrap my head around what I want, that is still reasonable. Probably start with looking for cheap/ free tank or sump and then go from there

it all depends on your budget.
it may be cheaper to buy everything and put it together. on the other hand if you widen you budget and find a whole established reef for sale you could actually save in the long run depending on the corals and equipment included.
