      ManTis' 45 gallon...

Sup fellow reefers! Since my new addition to the family I have some free time in between nappings, I finally have a chance to get this 45 gallon up and running. I was contemplating on setting it up or to sell it before our new baby Audrey arrived. I think this is the cleanest looking setup I ever have.

      Equipment:

•45 gallon tank, sump, and stand made by Crystal Dynamics.
-tank dimensions: 30"L x 20"W x 18"H with built in center overflow box.
      -sump dimensions: 22"L x 14"W x 15"H, 3 chambers.
      -stand dimensions: 32"L x 22"W x 37"H, with pull off door.
•Ecotech Marine VorTech MP10 quiet drive wireless.
•Ecotech Marine VorTech MP40, old school white box driver.
•Euro Reef Protein Skimmer, old school with the twist off union style collection cup.
      •Via Aqua Titanium 250W heater.
•Jebao DC-6000 Aqua Marine DC for return pump.
      •Aqua Ultraviolet 25W uv sterilizer.
•Reef Breeder Proton 16 LED Light.
      •DJ 8 channel Switch board.

As for livestock I think I'm just going to go with cheap and inexpensive fish and corals. I have some live rocks from my 90 gallon that I'm breaking down soon. And I got 4 bags of Tropic Eden Reef flakes that I was going to use it for my 90 gallon but never got around to it.

Here is what I got so far on the setup.

This is the new addition to my family, baby Audrey!

And here is the best tank I have to date with Nemo, Dory, and their friends. Hahaha

Ok on to the serious stuff.

      Thanks Chad.

I probably going to fill it up tonight. Most likely I will upgrade some of the equipment as I go.

      Thanks nanoreef1!

So I filled up the tank last weekend and waited a day to see if there is any leaks. Well as I inspect the plumbing and tank I didn't find any leaks. Which is great news but as I look closer I found some bubbles in the silicone in one of the seems. I looked at the other seem there was more bubbles! I was pissed at this point, waited this long to set up but now I have to tear it down.

I reached out to Crystal Dynamics and address the situation. I didn't expect much from them but they blew me away. They told me that this was one of the very first setup they made and that not all the kinks have been work out. They offer to build me a new tank from scratch for the inconvenience. They are going to deliver the new tank and pick up the existing tank. I am blown away with the offer.

I see an opportunity to upgrade so I got sapphire glass, raise the height of the tank to 20" instead of the 18", and added the Synergy overflow box with the bean animal drain which free up more space inside the tank! Well I have to pay for these upgrades but I think I will be happy with these. The only downside to this is that MACNA is around the corner and the company is busy with the show. So all of this would not happen until the week after. Which is in about 4 weeks. Kudos to Crystal Dynamics for making this right!

So as of right now the tank is empty. I cannot add corals or fish so I will probably look for equipment to add or upgrade. I'm thinking about adding a dosing system and an algae reactor.

Sorry to hear about the tank. But in the end it will work out and getting everything that you really want.

Good on them for the customer service and it's good you caught that now early on rather and a filled up system.
