Looking good bro I like how you took the time to waterproof the inside cabinet.
Setup more of the sump tonight, all plumbing were greased and siliconed into place. Quick leak test of the overflow shows no leaks, always a plus. Going to let it sit for 24 hours. Skimmer installed and the GFO and carbon reactor are also in. Now to wait for one more rodi valve to come and i can start making water tomorrow. Sand and rocks are inbound also. Still have to build the control board for the Apex and all associated controllers plus the ones for the Tunze ATO & MP10's. Almost there.
Commence the leak test. 30 min into it and everything is looking good, water is where is suppose to be and there's none where there isn't suppose to be. Time to let it sit 24 hours. This tank is dead silent, love it!
Black sand arrived today, always liked the look of it compared to natural and livestock pops so much more.
looking good
Always rinse your sand out properly. Great sand once cleaned and I've had good success with it over the years in all my tanks, just gotta make sure you rinse it out PROPERLY until the water is clear of sediments and yes that is an oily sheen on it fresh out the bag into a clean bucket.
Almost there, time to build the control board and setup the water station.
I can vouch for the rinsing new sand I didn't rinse my reef flakes when I started my new tank and there was a ton of plastic pieces that were floating in the water for like a month. I would do a water change and put filter socks over the returns to catch all the debris. I was a pain in the arse
Time to mockup everything and drill & paint this controller board.
lol WISH MY WIFE LET ME BUY ALL THESE HIGH END EQUIPMENTS!
So i verified placement of all the equipment and measured everything out, drilled 2" holes and got 2" desk grommets at Lowe's and they filled in perfectly. Next i gave it 2 coats of glossy white with primer.
Then i realized there was a problem unknown to me before partly because this is my first time building a controller board and owning a Ecotech MP series pumps. The dry side power cord does not disconnect, and my holes were 2", and the wet side on a MP10 is 2.5"! Short of making the hole bigger i decided to take it apart the same way you do an upgrade and feed the control wire through the grommet hole that way.
Notice the cord on the right, it does not disconnect.
Flip it over, and unscrew the 3 screws on back, take off the back cover.
The front knob pull straight out and only goes in or out 1 way through the keyed slot.
Undo the connector carefully and feed it through the hole.
Reverse all the steps and seal the driver back up.
