AIO glass vase reef tank and stand.

I saw someone's reef vase online and it was awesome. So I set down a path to Make my own. Doing tons of reading and figuring out exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted a vase with the least amount of disturbed viewing space. This meant no powerheads, lights out of the way and the overflow in the middle of the tank giving me almost 360° of view. I also wanted a acrylic stand that also was a piece of art. With pico tanks there is by ratio a large amount of evaporated water so i wanted a built in freahwater auto top off. And here it is. I completed the hand made sump and drilled the crystal vase earlier and now I'm running freshwater to make sure it all works. Notice the nice light rays the vase casts on the floor.

The hand made acrylic tube T return line sending water to one side and to the front of the vase. The overflow has the return line inside to reduce the amount of hoses and tubes.

This bone cutter saw works amazing to score and cut acrylic. Here are some pics of me cutting the acrylic sheet to make the sump stand and baffles. Also testing the lights. And main base of the vase, also bent acrylic hard tubing. I didnt want to use hose.

Alright the pump i was running wasnt moving enough water. I dont want to put a wired powerhead in the vase messing with asthetics. So i had to upgrade my return pump to a Rio aquapump 800+. This has amazing flow and my calculated turnover rate is 12 times entire volume per hour or once every 5 minutes.

wow that looks awesome! impressive. love the design and result. my only concern would be the algae growing in the overflow/return tubes as the tank moves along.

It's very easily pulled off and cleaned. I'm not worried about it. I was considering using 800 grit sandpaper to scuff the plastic to a frost to reduce the amount of light so alge won't grow. But I doubt that will be enough to block out light.

      Day #9
Tank has been seeded from my DT.
Water tested and looks good. So i added some coral and a mangrove. I also noticed the reservoir for the ato is condensing water. I might want to drill in some breather holes. water level in the sump has been perfect meaning my gravity ato is working.
