      Acros Experts Opinions?

Well, finally started to get my new cube looking good and now this...

Woke Up this morning excited to mount my new corals I picked up off a fellow reefer, and I got a jumpstart to my day! By jump start I mean I got a nice shock when I put my hand in the water!! I traced it back to my cobalt Neotherm Heater, so I ditched it.

Moving forward, I started examining the frags for fun, and it quickly turned into disappointment. AEFW! Yup, they are infested with them, and now in my tank...IT IS TOTALLY MY BAD FOR JUST THROWING THEM IN MY TANK BECAUSE IT WAS LATE. Just looking for a confirmation here... I see bite marks, AEFWs, and stressed out bases of the frags, all signs that are indicative of an infestation.

Moving forward, I am going to have to dip all Acros for weeks. Any ideas of what I should use or a plan of attack? Bayer is what i use to use in the past. Let me know what you guys think? BTW, I won't disclose the seller because I don't feel that it is right, although I did notify him.

      THANKS!

In the event that they are AEFWs, I didn't think that stuff worked on them, only other flatworms like planaria?

Melafix. I would start dipping ASAP.

Also, I think the picture of the frag plug may be a limpet. It looks to have a pointy shell. I don't think those are bad at all.

The more I discuss this and look closer, the more I think I have misidentified. I am going to get some better photos of the corals and pests.

Melafix is the only thing i have on hand after the move. What is your recommended dose and for how long?

Ya, those do not look like AEFW and really don't see the bite marks on the frag that you have pictured. You are correct that flatworm exit does not work for AEFW, only planaria. You might have gotten off lucky, AEFW are a pain to deal with. IMO the absolute worse pest I have had to deal with.

I hope that is the case. I need to pump my breaks!

I believe coral dipping it's 20ml per 1/2 gallon. I use it a bit stronger though. Revive might be the same type of dip

I hope you have not brought anything home. Bayer for headaches!

I dip everything that goes in my tank, and generally remove plugs and bases from colonies and frags because those can harbor the eggs of pests.

The only thing that goes in without a dip are fishes, shrimp, sea hares, and snails. But even for those I do a few water changes on those before I put them in the tank. I do not quarantine my fishes, but they are only in the tank to look pretty, eat aptasia and algae, and provide nutrients for the corals.

Can we ask who the frags came from?

Ok, so that looks like it is a fresh cut frag. What I am looking at seems to me that the tissue was rubbed and irritated during the fragging and handling. I still do not see the tell tale round bite marks that come with AEFW.

Cool, i guess i jumped the gun. This frag is a fresh cut. I just though that the little circles when you zoom in were small bite marks. Now that I am not in panic mode, it looks more like the skin is irritated as you mentioned. Thanks!
