Same thing happened to me with "Kimmy" when I posted I was looking for an ATO. I got a PM saying she had a fairly new one for cheap. When I asked where she she was all the way down in Bonita she would ship to me for no additional charge. I said I don't do PayPal and that I could get down to Bonita without much trouble and asked when would be the best time to meet up and haven't heard back since.

I actually got a message from her when my inbox was full so I have no idea what it said. I did not put any thought into it, but I did have a wanted ad up, so I'm sure she was trying to scam me as well

The IP address is from Illinois. Odd for a local reef site but not one of the international ones we usually see with scammers. I will look into it some more.

Did you end up paying as goods and services? If so, then yes, file a claim with paypal. You'll win for sure.

If you paid as family and friends, ive been told that theres a chance you can get your money back. I sold something on one of the national sites once and a guy paid me using family and friends. I was a bit surprised and asked him why hes not hesitant of getting ripped off. He replied that Paypal will still cover him. So if you paid this way, I would contact paypal regardless and see if they can do anything for you.

I dont have personal experience with it so I dont know what Paypal can do.

According to a guy that sent me hundreds of dollars, Paypal can do something. So it doesnt hurt to ask.

That said, I would never send as friends and family if I never dealt with the person before.
