      Steel stand cover ideas

Hi guys so I finally found someone to cut my steel stand down to the height I need so within a few weeks I'll be finally moving this bad boy into house. I've been trying to come up with ideas on what to use on the outside of this stand that will look nice. Especially the curves make it difficult. I'll be putting some big doors in center but want to cover sides and ends with something nice looking any suggestions? After cut down its 28" tall. Wish they made the aluminum roof flashing that wide.

IMS Industrial Metal Supply, check out their selection of decorative metals.

Plastic supply houses also carry some interesting materials.

Also, checkout Dukta Flexible Wood, specifically look at their Semi-Finished materials.

Anderson Plywood also carries several flexible plywood's that can be used as a finished surface, or can be covered with some veneer. I'm partial to KOA.

There is a plywood specialty shop, two wood supply houses, IMS, and two plastic suppliers within a few miles in Claremont Mesa. Might be interesting to spend a rainy day looking into options. If you wanted an easy answer, Formica is worth looking into. Over the years they have increased their selection to include some really interesting textures, surfaces, patterns, and colors. If your décor is modern a high gloss surface is timeless and relatively easy to accomplish.

Not to throw too many ideas at you, but you could also cover the stand with Kerdi Board. It's a foam based tile backing product that you could use as a base of tile, stone, wood veneer, metal, etc. It's light, waterproof, provides sound dampening, and is easy to work with. Its available in different thicknesses, so you could use several layers of thin material to make the necessary curves. Checkout some of the videos on Kerdi, it's interesting stuff, I've had good experiences working with it.

Feel free to PM me if I can be of any assistance.

Ha! Removable leg on end when I had stand shortened! Yes I had a couple tanks in past w acrylic n magnets so handy. Just sucks how expensive acrylic has become. I'm in new place just up hill from condo. We tore our wall out of the tank room and this weekend starting to lay our tile. Tank may be at least sitting in room in a couple weeks!! 😱

Just wrap it in a grass skirt. Easy access throughout the stand, plenty of airflow for cooling or humidity issues & stays within the "beach" theme. Hope that removable leg is still "removable" with 8,000 pounds of tank & water on it. Can't wait to see the total package.

Hawaiian perv! The leg only has to come off once to get sump in before any water touches it! 🤣

It was built for tank originally so I'm not sure. I just had it cut down

Hi guys so finally have stand in room. We decided to tile around it and not underneath it. What sucks is it looks level long ways but from back to front it is not because our slab/floor appears to be slightly sloping down. Wondering if I put a thin layer of foam underneath if it might help it self level some? Thoughts? I know I've put foam under flat bottom glass tanks before but never under a stand.
