You can try swinging by the iron workers apprenticeship on Wednesday or Thursday and hit up someone in the welding shop, I'd do it but I'm a ****ty welder and only have my 7018 plug and vertical cert.
But on Wednesday and Thursday there welding shop is open and there is a handful of skilled welders week to week. I'm sure a case of beer or so and they could hook you up on the spot

Really these guys weld iron for a living, holds up skyscrapers etc. Some of the best welders I know are ironworkers or ship workers.
I'm just saying, you could swing by and see if anyone with experience is up to the task. The welding shop is located at the apprenticeship. That doesn't mean every one there is an apprentice. There are always journey men there taking re certs and upgrade classes
