Plus 1000000000000+. People need to keep the area clean, last time I went some jack a$$ left a broken 5 gallon jug in the trash...dude, it didn't even fit it was 3/4 of the way sticking out the can!!!!! Also watch what falls out of your car most times there's always trash around the gutter drain...... Thanks for the update
Is the hose still there??
Dang yeah don't let your car be so full of trash that it falls out when you open the door! That is dangerous if you have to stop suddenly trash will fly all over and go under your brake pedal or something and make you crash.
Anyway I suspect the people leaving the hose on the ground or being idiots are not any of the people on this board here. All of us appreciate Scripps and treat it respectfully. Once it is moved up the hill no beachgoers are going to use the hose, hopefully that cuts out the majority of hose abuse.
If the problem persists maybe we can make a plaque that says wind up the hose or it will be shut off.
Yeah I've seen surfers use it to was off, lol ...I've told them they're using saltwater to wash off the saltwater, they usually get a chuckle out of it but put the hose back somewhat where it was -from my experience
More than once I've also seen people filling up their jugs and leaving a mess behind. I've picked up trash and sh!t they've left but that shouldn't be an occurrence to begin with!
I appreciate the privilege of having access as we do currently. I'm ok with moving the site and it may even deter some of the less wanted use as it'll not be in such a central location. Let's just keep on taking care of it as I'm sure most do.
I too am sure that most of us take care when using the tap , and people who don't know why its there are leaving it in disorder. Coming from the maintenance people as a reason for closure shouldn't be taken lightly and just to remind all of us here who use it to make sure to take extra care.
The hose is still there and in good shape.
I fill up right in front of it sp minimal movement of hose, b it yes surfers and swimmers do use it to clean feet and boards then it's up in the air where it gets set down.
Well when the tap moves if its still happening we'll know who to blame. i don't think surfers and regular folks will be driving up the hill to wash off.
Make the hose great again!
A reflection upon the Scripps Pier Watering Hole:
Practicing Good Industrial Hygene will keep "our" water free and safe!
Some clever ideas that most people practice:
Roll up your hose and keep it out of the traffic lanes before you zip-up and zip out of there.
If you have to take a dump, pick up your deposits before you leave. Nobody wants to step over any crap that you left behind.
Smile and be courteous to a jerk who cuts you off on the road to the hose. (That would be me!) If the hose bib goes gangster, the tap will go dry.
Treat the University property like your significant others underwear; If you find it dirty, help clean them up.
I hope the reefer community can remember Rodney's word; "Y can't we all get along?," like mom is watching!
PSA Rant ended.
So I've been to the new spot a couple times now and I thought I'd bump this up and see what peeps thoughts are so far...?
Other than my not being a fan of the hose that's clamped on currently I gotta say I kinda dig not getting sprayed down by everyone coming up from the beach and cleaning off. I will note I have noticed more sediments than I'm used to though.
