      Scripps water site change

I was at Scripps earlier today and spoke with one of the techs that said they are gonna be moving the spot we access the water. From what he said, it's not gonna be too far and they'll post at the current site explaining when it's done which should be in the next couple weeks to a month.

Please chime in with any info. I'm curious to see if myself and the other reefer that was there are the only two sdr cats that have heard this yet.

I was there this morning, it is still operational at the usual location. And the surf was happening, nice shape!

New sign states that effective November 1st, the new location is on Shellback Way between the NOAA Fisheries building and Keck OAR. There's a number to call if more information is needed. 858-534-2830

I talked to the guys over the weekend. They said it was just past the pedestrian bridge. It will still run up though the filters and then up the hill. They said it gets pumped to Birch and a few other places.

Keck OAR building is here, it's gotta be right around here, NOAA is the next building north, so it's probably right there between those buildings west of the pool at Keck...

wow, that seems like a long way to pump it up. might have to fill up this weekend so i don't have to go searching... let someone else do the leg work . google maps shows some type of pool around there, that would be my first guess at the location.

They pump it all the way up to the aquarium, imagine those pumps! That's an expensive power bill.

      Thanks for the updates

Yeah as noted above, they pump hundreds of gallons way up the hill for various lines of research -some of which are noted in the original Scripps thread. I'm mostly curious if there's gonna be restrictions on the access line e.g. available timing, how many gallons...

Maybe when this is finalized the mods can make this sticky or add info the original thread

I was there again this morning and spoke to the same guy inurmind and I spoke to the first day this was posted. The new site is not far or hard to find , and we've already got a pin point dropped and a picture/map of the new location.

The tap is being moved to lower the amount of "traffic" in the original area for future aquarium construction on site. As usual , if we all continue to take care of the tap and keep things orderly , it will be there for us to use as most of us have for years.

The hose was NOT rolled up nicely and kind of thrown about when I got there. Thy guy kinda hinted that "they" don't like to see that and would be the cause of tap closure in the future. Everyone should already know to clean up after themselves when finished. Don't ruin it for the rest of us !

Yeah I think most of us take care of the hose and roll it up, but I have seen regular people using it to wash their feet off and stuff so those might be the ones getting us when it comes to NOT ROLLING IT UP.
