Treatment fishes before introducing into Aquarium

      Hi,

I'm interested in what product to use for fishes before you introduce into your display tank.

I don't have a QT yet and I treat all my corals with a coral dip before it goes to the MDT.

      Appreciate your help...
      Thanks

Minus a QT id say only thing worth doing is temp and drip acclimation. I would stop getting any fish until you get a QT up though... You're just playing with fire at this point...

FW dip always help for most external parasites and fungus. But make sure that temp and PH matches with tank water. As for ick, you definitely need to copper treat them. Get your self a very in expensive glass tank. Not sure if the sale is still on, but petco & petsmart is having there quarterly $1/gallon sale.

Yes, freshwater dip is important. I do a 5 minute dip for all fish before QT. I've even seen flukes come off in those so it helps. You can buffer the freshwater with baking soda to get PH closer and you'll need to match the temperature. Also QT for a couple weeks (4 wks is better) is a good idea as some things can show up in QT that you don't want in your display (ich, velvet, flukes etc), I had that problem and will never do that again. QT is important but monitor Ammonia/Nitrates, lots of water changes etc. And have some treatment meds available in case you need to treat right away.
