Soft start and wave timing is much easier with these than with usual aquarium pumps because they're DC. Tunze streams are DC as well, but they have to be sealed to not burn out.

Well, a 150+ watt closed loop pump costs around $200+ dollars, PLUS it sucks up a LOT of juice over a couple o years... I'm sure you would save money.Originally Posted by FishBulb
Hmmm, well, I was hoping someone out there was actually running one of these as a beta tester...with a newborn due an a few months, I will just have to wait till someone decides to get one, not like it and then post in in the FOR Sale area $350 is out of my range, but I really think it would be a added addition to circ on one side of my 5ft set on a wavemaster and the the current seie 1500 on the other constantly running.
Received my Vortech propeller pump yesterday. The thing is pretty darn cool. Only time will tell on its durability.
I wouldn't recommend it to the price conscious. The cost of the pump is pretty darn spendy...
What the heck is 'wave motion algorithms' ?
The other part that really sucks is that it looks like the controller is an extra accessory, not included in the $350 price. $350 for the pump alone, that is even more than a Tunze. Who developed their business model?
Hmmm. This thing is comparible to the Tunze 6100 (up to 3,000 gallons per hour). The Tunze 6100 without a controller at Marine Depot cost $333. Add the magnet holder for $36. Total for a Tunze comparible unit is $369.Originally Posted by kjsreef
Don't get me wrong for I am a major Tunze fan. Tunze has been around for quite awhile where this is a new product from Ecotech marine. I just wanted to clarify your earlier post. You need to compare apples to apples...
This is the new innovation to the TUNZE Streams, however, it's listed as pre-order for $345. Does anyone know what's included with it or is it just for the powerhead?
Just the power head. Keep in mind that it's output is comparable to a Tunze 6100.
friggin pricey ouch
Why pay for something that pricey AND NEW? You don't know how well they'll perform over time. How easy is it to get replacement parts, etc.. Tunze have been proven to work and work well. Just got my tunzes in and they are absolutely AMAZING!! Pricey but amazing.

I was only able to take a picture of the part that resides outside of the tank due to my MH's do not come on until later today. I'll take a picture of the 'in tank' piece later. What's also nice about this pump is the feature that it turns off if the front unit falls off of the glass. You don't need to worry about blowing the subtrate or having the pump blow directly on to epensive corals if the pump moves for whatever reason.
Here is the speed controller and power supply...
