I have owned acrylic and glass tanks and agree that both have pros and cons. What is everyones opinion about the generally small cutout sizes on the top of acrylic tanks? With all this money spent on lighting I see one of the drawbacks of acrylic being most of the lighting being diffused through all the bracing on top of an acrylic tank. As salt and water accumulate from the generally high flow in reef tanks the bracing seems to greatly reduce the efficiency of the lighting. Unless one wants to spend the extra money for an euro-braced acrylic tank. $$$
Glass tank do not have this problem. Socal... Do you have any pictures of acrylic tank with large cutouts on top?
I think the best of both worlds would be a eurobraced high quality acrylic tank. The only cons would be the ease of scratch factor and $$$.
