How to store sand during tank breakdown?

We're moving and my fish tank will have to be empty for about 2 weeks, I'm storing my LR in a garbage can with some powerheads, but how should I store the sand?

same way as the rock. but give it a good rinse in or at scripps first. A wider container is better Imo as the sand/bacyeria does better with a wider surface area to breathe. so youll have less die off and ammoinia, like a re-cycle but actually just a spike.
then rinse again before you put it back in the tank.

I did waterchanges power heads and heater if gets too cold for both. But 2 weeks isn't long so flown and temp maintenance will be fine.

I agreed on both but I like to start fresh on the sand whenever I do a new setup.
Like I said, rinse and dry. 2 weeks is a good time for drying and removing all the bad minerals.
You already have a LR and it will eventually seed the sand.

oh man! you can rinse that out at scripps! just add it to home depot buckets so they're half full, take em down there and blast it full of water, stir, let settle a few seconds, and pour the water off the top. Do it a few times. I got my sand used and did this, you can save a lot of cash it's worth it.

If nothing, someone will surely want your sand from you if you didn't trash it yet

I just did this exact thing last weekend. Took my home depot bucket full of sand down there, turned the hose on and filtered out the sand. Even got rid of the really fine stuff that tends to get trapped in the water column. Since I'm not quite ready to setup yet I will probably do it again soon. Sand can be pricey so good to save it when you can.
