      225 mix reef build

Okay..... So finally am going to build my big tank. Long story short. Been in hobby since late 80's. Took a 8year break (kids r expensive haha) set up a 29gal nano in garage (daughter loves) been solid for 1.5 years...... Wife gave in and said you can have that wall for a tank! Whoooo Hoooooo!!!!!
Anyway. I like clean look and automation (love tech stuff) came across a great setup here on the board (thanks Jenny) I would like to keep her good work going but am going to change some things

Here is what I'm working with. ANY SUGGESTIONS would be greatly appreciated! First tank over 200 so hard for me to foresee any needs

      Tank, Stand and drip tray
I already sanded and repainted the stand. I fabricated a drip tray to catch and spilt water and I will be changing the blue back to black

Very unique sump. Left side is standard sump. Right side is set for refugium. 2 separate feeds

Wow, looks like a great start. Color me green with envy.

I can't comment with any authority as I haven't even finished my tank build yet. I do like the idea of a split sump to enable different flow rates for the skimmer and the fuge. I did something similar with mine, although about a quantum scale less than yours in terms of size and complexity. I just split the return so a portion of it goes into the fuge.

Looking forward to see it progress, subscribed.

Looks like an amazing setup you have going there. I like the 6 filter socks, in 3 different locations, going on in the sump. I am envious as well, been looking at that kore 5th doser for well over a year now and just can't pull the trigger. Please let me know how you like it! I know you mentioned you love the tech toys but if you need any help with setup of the apex or doser feel free to reach out my way (will work for tint ;-))

      Keep the updates coming.

I can trade just about anything for tint. Even furter credit😬. Might need advise on apex set up. Spent the last week reading up on all the equipment. Hit a little snag on connecting Bluetooth to computer but pacific sun has been great so far

      Thanks everyone!
      Couple questions for you guys
      1) redoing overflow. Changing acrylic cover from blue to black. Should I put teeth or no teeth on overflow? I really want a coast 2 coast put with interior plumbing on the tank it would take a lot of space an not look great? Also on the overflow...... It's set about 2" below the top edge of tank (can't stand the air gap at top of tank) you think I could have the weir set 1" higher without any problems?
      2) going to run a bean animal. Tank has 2x1" bulkheads and 2x1.5" bulkheads. OLD setup used 2x1" for returns and 2x1.5" for durso over flow. It was set up for high turnover but noisy
I would like to set up a bean and use a 1" siphon side to feed the skimmer side of sump. A 1" durso (vented) to feed the refugium side of sump (at a slower rate). A 1.5" for emergency drain and a 1.5" for return. I would like 5x to. 7x turnover but am not certain if this will accomplish that and be Quite?
I have never run a bean before but with the DC pump I think the proper flow can be achieved just concerned about the durso side of the bean making to much noise
      What do you think?

If you have time swing by and we can talk. I run a c2c overflow, no teeth, bean animal overflow in an external box setup on my tank. I am planning on the same setup again on my next build but the bottom will be drilled not the back. I bet we could come up with a good plan to get what you want. And yes we could make the overflow 1" higher to eliminate the visible water line at the top. I would use the 1.5" lines for the drains (siphon, and durso or emergency) and the 1" for the return and whichever drain isn't 1.5".

PM on the way with my contact info.

Dang, nice setup. I don't recall ever seeing this setup posted on the boards. +1 on wanting that Kore 5th doser on next tank. Looking forward to seeing this up and running. What brand sump is that?
      150g glass w/ corner overflow , 60g sump w/refugium, Eheim 1262 return, SRO 2000int skimmer, ATI Dimmable Sunpower 8x54w fixture, 2 Tunze 6105 and 2 tunze 6025 modded.

      225 mix reef build

I think the post was up a day. Saw the next morning and couldn't pass it up. I have been looking for a tank on the boards for over 6 months and this was almost exactly what I wanted. All the equipment was a huge bonus cause I would have purchased similar stuff (eco tech) anyway

John..... Nice talking to you. I'll be posting pics of the black back and C2C I added later. After that.... Tank I s being moved into position and plumbing started😬

Next question. Will be doing the overflow and plumbing today. Can the siphon for the bean be the same as the Herbie (meaning set lower with a strainer as apposed to 2 90's)

I guess that's my question. Isn't it a Herbie with an added emergency stand pipe? I happen to have 4 holes drilled so why not use them. I just thought a shorter pipe with a strainer would start siphon easier
