So you want to be a MACNA volunteer?

Yes, folks, MACNA is right around the corner and we will be needing some help from lots of people in the area. While we will be hiring people to do some of the work, we will be using volunteers to do certain tasks. If you would like to participate in this endeavor, please post here in this thread. The event is September 9 - 11, but we will be starting as soon as September 5th. Tasks to do will include stuffing conference bags, assembling raffle boxes, putting signage together, etc. During the show we will have volunteers around for helping the many visitors find their way around, supervising speaker rooms and workshops, setting up for the banquet, etc. We will undoubtedly have other tasks that need to be done that will require some more manpower.

If you feel like you can commit to helping out, post your availability for that week and we will begin to put together the plans for what we need help with. Whether you can commit to the whole week or just half a day, it doesn't matter. Any help will be appreciated. In most cases being a volunteer will get you into the show for free. So think about it and post in this thread if you are interested in helping out. It should be a lot of fun and very rewarding.

Sure, my wife and I would love to volunteer. So far all I can guarantee at this point is I'm off on Sunday but I've requested other days off so we may have more time.

Just talked to my work's scheduler, I get all three days off 9/9-9/11. Sign my wife and I up!

It'd help to know if volunteering comes with free admission. If I gotta buy passes I'd rather buy early and save $$.

I'm no one to say anything but I think it would just be free admission to the convention part and not the the banquet or special events . So if you and Wifey wanted to go to that maybe you may want to purchase that early.

Thanks chireef. I could live w/out a banquet but I have no idea what 'special events' translates to. What events are there that are worth the price?

      Dave,
I talked to you last night at Mimi's. I can help out 4 hours here and 4 hours there.
I'm retired so most days and times will work. Just let me know as we get closer to Sept.
I'm looking forward to the convention. SDNewbie

I will post details and kind of a schedule for when we need people and how many. Helping will definitely get you into the show, but you will need to buy a ticket to go to the banquet or reception. Both of these are costing us a lot of money so we need to offset that cost. This is going to be an incredibale event.

We will need most volunteers on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, which is September 8 - 10. We will also have stuff to do as early as Tuesday. We will probably have a bag stuffing party Tuesday afternoon. We will have about 4000 bags that will need to have all of the samples and handouts from exhibitors stuffed in them. If we have a good number of people it will go pretty quickly and we will have a good time doing it. Of course pizza, beer, sodas, etc. will be provided. On Saturday afternoon we will need people to help set up the banquet room. Normally there is a give away in there and those items will need to be distributed to every seat. This is just two examples of what we need. We will keep reaching out and as we get closer to the show more information will be given.

Free admission to the exhibit hall and speakers will be your reward.

I'm available for the bag stuffing on Tuesday afternoon
and probably for setting up the banquet room too.
Those sound like tasks I am qualified for. SDNewbie
