So, as we all know, MAX is coming to Orange County in a couple weeks. Due to our move/expansion we decided we probably won't have time to prepare to rent a booth at the show. Just out of curiosity we called Kevin (the president) on March 15th to find out if there were any booths available. We had a short phone conversation, he said there was one booth left, and that we would not have to pay for electricity. We said thank you and proceeded to go about our day.

We then receive this e-mail:

I was offering free electricity (on either the single or double booth) because I thought you were pulling the trigger TONIGHT.

If you call tomorrow this offer is definitely OFF the table, but you can still buy a booth.

After tomorrow everything is off the table because we wont add anyone after 3-16






We did not respond,as we were not interested. Nor did we ever tell him we were interested.
Shorly after receiving this e-mail, this one was sent.

On last thing:
I cannot add you to the show program after tonight is over as we are sending the final version to the printer.
Moot point as you would have called by now if you wanted to join us this year.

good luck, catch us MUCH SOONER next year.
the longer you wait the more expensive it gets, period.

We have sold the one 10x10 that was available, however if you are interested in E18 and can pull the trigger on it TODAY I will bargain this $1800 booth down to $1200. Booth E18 is a 20x10 endcap on the livestock aisle, and opposite Tongs Tropical Fish. This will be the busiest corners in our entire show.
I can make this offer only because:
1) it is a wild card last minute fill in, and
2) you lose the benefit of having your name listed on the show program, and
3) the financial demands are immediate and irrevocable
this is the ONLY way I can justify making this offer as we do not discount booth prices.

This proposal benefits you greatly. Ignore this email and it goes away by 8:00 PM today. No exceptions

Sounds like he's mad he couldn't sell out the booths. Income must be tight if he hounded you that much over a booth. Most event planners would have blew you off if you weren't interested.

mad max is probably just stressed out trying to fill his booths, but he is taking this kind of personally. that kind of interaction with customers usually makes them avoid doing business with you in the future
