Does anyone know where I can find a smoothhound locally?

I think DFG will not allow local catching, but there was a supplier that sold a lot of sharks in Socal, think this may be them but the availability is seasonal

What dimensions? Rock work? Other fish?

My guess is something like 96"L x 24"W x 30"H, and if that is the case it really is not big enough for a shark, especially a free swimming shark like a smoothhound.

Basically if you don't have a footprint with a minimum of around 5' x 5' the tank is not large enough for even the smallest free swimming sharks. Even then the shark will outgrow that tank when it reaches full maturity.

Also remember that any local species of aquaria are of a much colder water temp than most tropical species and tank water would need to be adjusted to be closer to that.

This is not to say you couldn't house a baby smoothhound for a period of time but it would quickly out grow the width of a standard 2' wide tank and would then need a much larger tank.

Another consideration is price, you'd be looking at $300+ most likely when they are in season and available for LEGAL purchase.
