Sorry to say that a few of us showed up there and even the Neil (store Owner) was NOT aware of it being canceled. I might be a very good idea to send out emails to membership AND meeting host as to meeting dates and times. Not all of us live on this forum, let along to know you all canceled event at last minute. Neil had not been (The Host) contacted, good thing he didn't run out and by 10 pizzas for this.......... He kept store open past 7 pm closing time not to mention staff he kept around to help out.

Think its time to have a better way/form of announcing meetings WITH an email follow up to membership. I hope MACNA is handled better then the local meetings are.

You know not only did I suggest making this canceled meeting more obvious on the site due to it being very confusing lately, but I also tried to PM making sure Neil was notified, because I saw him over the weekend there and he was saying how he was rushing to be ready and hoped he could do all he could for this meeting, and he had some other special plans he asked me not to mention.
Unfortunately the message I sent came back w/ PM box full.
I can't believe a store owner went through this much trouble and offered up his store and time for our meeting and no one even bothered to notify him.

That doesn't look good for folks see to a post then its gone, looks like your hiding something. I can understand if its a derogatory or rude or indecent post, this wasn't any of those. I can be a very strong supporter of this group as I am to ALL the clubs/society's I belong to including SCMAS,SDKC,SDTFS,MASNA,IEKC,LVKC, and many others. SCMAS I drive to for every meeting in Santa Ana by the way. But this hop scotch last minute approach is not good especially when your the host club to MACNA, I understand things come up in one's lives BUT that is why you have President, Vice-president, and other officers that can pick up the ball when anothers can't. I have also served as a President (1986-87) of the old SDMAS-San Diego Marine Aquarists Society for two terms. So will/may start to lose folks if its not stable club and if like last meeting of about 18-20 mins........then this. Again this is JMHO and view from the outside looking in............. if anything I can do to help let me know, other wise if this keeps happening then I will have to rethink my membership support.

While I had nothing to do with deleting anything from FB, I totally agree with it. One meeting was postponed and yes, the communication on it fell apart. That is bad. And that will not happen again. However, making a comment for the world to see, of "I hope this isn't how MACNA will be handled" is totally inappropriate. What good can a comment like that possibly accomplish? If you would like to help support the club, then step up and offer to help with some of the meetings. We have asked for help numerous times and we still have very few takers. As I am sure you are aware from your past experience, it takes a lot of time and work to keep a club running. When it is being done by 4 or 5 people it gets pretty tough.

It got you to post didn't, and frankly folks will and might ask that question because of the last few meetings.......lets be honest it does not look good if your looking in. I am sorry but I don't sugar coat anything, as for helping with meeting might be nice to hear what it is your looking for....and can I help with a meeting? run it? sponsor it? by food? maybe you need to bring that up at every meeting so folks know Oct meeting was the last time I heard anything of depth about MACNA and shirts. Where is the newsletter? Emails to membership? asking for this help let's face Oct was the last meeting of worth in IMHO.

If you have a problem with my frankness and suggestions and honesty please let me know and I will remove myself from your club.

I vote reef56 handles all future meetings! I could help as well. But as long as they're during the week, I won't be able to attend. But I can certainly do the leg work to find a place and set a date. Or work with whomever is handling that already. LMK. I'll also finally pay up and become a member.
