      Equipment design/layout in a 24x24x24 stand

Looking for some advice and experienced input here on fitting a sump and equipment into a stand.

A few months ago I purchased a 24x24x24, 60g cube setup, including a stand (my first saltwater tank). For ease of discussion, the interior dimensions of the stand are essentially the same as the tank, 24x24x24.

I took some time to refinish the stand and have had the tank on a temporary stand with sump, ATO, power strip and other stuff set around it. The time has almost come to swap out the temporary stand for the refinished and I'm looking for some advice on how to squeeze everything into the stand.

Right now my sump is a 10g glass tank with a filter sock, skimmer, return pump and no baffles. I have a plastic bin for my ATO reservoir that holds about 5g. Both should fit inside the stand, but I'd really like to improve upon things here, especially the sump. I'd like to get some baffles into my sump and also add a refugium. Don't think I'm going to be able to get that done with the existing 10g though.

Does anyone have a similar setup that they've managed to fit a sump (sock, skimmer, fuge, return), ATO, plumbing and electronics into? I'd love to see pictures, drawings, descriptions!

Oh and the tank is plumbed with a 2" drain and a 1" return.

      Thanks for the help!

      Thanks!

I may go get a 20g high at Petco during their $1/gallon sale and get a baffles kit. Anyone used this kit before?

After shipping the kit gonna cost close to $90. You can go that route, but I would also look into ordering a custom sump. Perhaps a cube sump to maximize the space under the stand. You can get a custom sump with think all the trimmings (sock holders, baffles, skimmer section, refugium, ato reservoir) for a reasonable price since 24x24 footprint isn't too big

I know, I was thinking that too. Some of the pre-fab sumps I've seen are $300-400 though!

Was hoping I might be able to find someone local getting rid of one. Also thinking I'll check some of the options that Melev has on his site for kits and pre-built sumps.

Why don't you just wait till you find one in here? I've seen plenty

      Patience is key.

      HAVING patience is the problem.

In all seriousness though, I probably will end up waiting to pull the trigger on something until I find a local deal and/or find the perfect setup I'm willing to pay for.

I should be able to do my stand swap with the equipment I have now and then change out the sump later. So I'll probably end up doing that. I'd love to do it all at once, but that may be a bit ambitious anyway.
