      Brooklynella or Ich

So I have been fortunate enough to never have dealt with either of these parasites in the past but this morning on my way to work I noticed a white film all over my clown. Did not have time to snap a pic but will try to do so later today.

      Tank params:

      Ammonia - 0
      Nitrite - 0
      Nitrate <10
      Phosphate - 0
      Cal - 400
      Alk - 9

The newest fish in the tank is the cherub that has been there for a few weeks at least, but from what I can see looks to be fine.

The really bad news: I am getting on a plane later today so I wont be around to set up a QT tank or anything until I return Monday morning. With that being said, what are my options, and what kind of damage am I looking at. Do I need to worry about my corals and inverts, or just my fish? Any help is super appreciated!

It is hard to say without pictures of the signs. Here is a link with a guide to all types of possible Marine Diseases.

Do you have a friend or someone that can setup a qt for you and medicate because if it is brooknellya then you will most likely loose the fish by monday...

Unfortunately I do not have any friends around who can set up a qt or anything. What are the risks to corals and inverts?

Unfortunately if it's Brook, your clown probably won't make it more than a couple days unless you start treatment right away. I dealt with this recently and lost both clowns within a day and a half

Formaldehyde for brook, I did the treatment in qt so I don't know the effects it will have on corals/inverts

Yeah I don't want to put that in my display. Does brooklynella harm corals and inverts? Say worst case scenario, all my fish die off over the weekend(lets hope not) what do I do to kill off the parasites before adding anything else into the tank?

Your corals and most other fish should be fine. Unfortunately formaldehyde is the only real known effective treatment, hyposalimity helps but does not cure. the parasites will die off when they no longer have a host

Ok. How about feeding garlic? I can do that before I head out today at least, maybe give it a chance?

It wouldn't hurt so I say go for it. Anything is better than nothing.

Depending on your tank size and the amount of fish that could possibly die you might have a spike in ammonia which could led to your coral being affected.

the only thing from previous experience is if your fish die and its been in there a few days....your parameters are going to get jacked up pretty quick...chain reaction and will kill off other fish...so if i were you, see if you can get the clown out and give it to someone to qt or "donate" to someone....rather then lose everything...just my

Squid, if you can house some fish, that would be much appreciated! I'd be happy to compensate you too. Of course, if in the end I still lose the fight, no worries, I wouldn't put that on you. I'm just grateful you're willing to help.

On a side note, what are the chances a)my cherub and tailspot blenny have issues and b)you could house them as well?
