      Quick question

I have a 12 gallon nano that has been running about 1 yr. pair clowns, 1 fire shrimp, 5 snails, 17 pounds of live rock. I just purchased a 24 gallon nano and want to move everything from 12 into the 24 except the substrate. bought new 30 lb. Argonite. tank is filled and running with PS for about a week now. My question when can I move the LR over all pieces have coral on them except one, and two when can I move fish, and invert over.

When I moved a 10 gallon to a 30 gallon I moved it as soon as possible first the live rock and then I let the water clear up and then I added the corals and live stock later I had no loss

Just take water from the old tank and put it in a buckets and place your rock and corals in it with powerheads so it stays circulated and a heater inside. Remember plan and make list of what is needed to get it done because you don't want to be missing or not have enough saltwater so plan. Also remember once you start the time starts ticking and you have to get everything done because livestock can be in the balance. But no worries it a fun all day project.

      Chireef is correct. But...
If it's dry argonite, you have to cure it. I'd let it run longer too, and let it cure. I had bad things happen end of last year doing just that. Took weeks of research to figure it out. I wound up letting it run fallow a couple more weeks then capping the Dry with New Live sand.
      Better safe than sorry.

BTW curing is letting the natural ph buffering in the rock mellow out.yes(It also is beginning to cycle too but) Right now its chemically boiling. Aragonite is a natural ph buffer, google it.
Yes I did test it before the bad thing happened. all normal readings. I could go into the long boring scientific details but its probably just better to wait and a little extra money..

      P.S.
You can add any live sand to an established tank safely. Some recommend it.

i moved from my 3g to 8g within the hour.
the 8g included new live rock, which i cycled for a week,
then plopped everything in after testing. i used new live sand,
and "seeded" it with a handful of live sand from my
      old tank. good luck!
