      Anemones are Dieing

Someone please help, I have 3 rose bubble anemones that are Dieing and I do not know why. They have all shrunk to almost a dime size, and haven't opened for almost a month. A couple weeks ago I was doing testing and the nitrates were just a little high and so were the phosphate. I have done four water changes since then and the nems still won't open. I am afraid they will die and kill everything. Could it be the lighting is too much?

What type if lighting? How long? If bulbs how long ago were replaced? What are you feeding them? How often? Assuming u have corals, but have u checked copper levels if fish only? Are ammonia nitrate levels high?

In order for the Rose Bubble Tip Anemone to keep its bright coloration and bulb tips, it needs strong illumination supplied by metal halides, or intense florescent lighting of at least 6 watts per gallon. They require an aquarium of at least 30 gallons, as they can grow up to 12" across in the aquarium. These anemones will typically remain compact and will gain bulb tips under intense lighting. If the lighting is insufficient, they will expand their bodies to great lengths to make the most of the available light. It should be kept with a Clownfish for best results. At times, the tentacles may appear stringy; this may be due to insufficient light or the need for food.

Its diet should include chopped fish, shrimp, or worms if a clownfish is not present.

Levels are fine, I have corals but have not checked copper levels. Not sure how copper could even get into the tank. The lighting is led and should be more then sufficient.

QT them. A dead nem is a highly possible crashed tank. How long have you had them any light changes add anything to tank recently? Water paremeters?any info helps

Actually it happened about a month after I moved them from a larger tank into a smaller tank and changed the lighting. They were great for that month tho. Not sure on the lifespan of this tank, close to a year. They were under an AI sol and are now under a coral compulsion led. If it was not enough light I would think they would he stretching for it. 2 of them have been moving around, so there must be something they don't like. Maybe more flow?

The tank is very small, only 5.5. They are holding there until I have time to get the main tank up again.

I think you might have changed too much at one time and shocked them. That tank is also very small for nems especially with other corals in there. You could possibly have some type of chemical warfare going on. Not sure what else you would be able to do for them, they might be already to far gone. Moving them into in isolation tank might be your only shot but that will be stressful also.

did you say 5.5 gallons or 55 gallons? 5.5 is way too small on the tank and light, leaving waste an issue from them and other corals and if its 5.5 gallons there is not enough room for them to move and find the right flow and light, in a 5.35 gallon tank you may be burning them

It is 5.5, smallest possible like a quarantine. Not meant for permanent housing. What do you mean burning? The tank does not get over 78 degrees. Before when they were okay they spread out just fine.
They weren't shocked, they were fine for a month after I moved them.
The tank tests fine, once the nitrates and phosphate was a little high. I do a water change 1-2 times a week

Burning them as in with the lights, not tank temp and they could still have been shocked but were healthy enough at first to not show the affects.
