do you have any pictures / videos of it , when it was running
really like to visually confirm your original comment
      CONFIRMED
Here, found some old photos from my phone. Not a good quality, but you get the pics
Hope this will satisfy you. Like I said, no mechanical filtration. Only live rock, live sand and weekly WC.

Oh , and I think I added the RBTA later on before I sold the whole tank!

      definitely confirmed something,
2 year old tank with un cured rocks
      "there still bright white"
gravel substrate had no signs of an aged and or established reef ,looks like it was maybe a month old in pic's.
nice little nano btw, not trying to be a jerk ..amazing you wouldn't keep taking pics of it. 2 years later? with such good results.

....would like hyemp to see that it is very difficult to get a fuge only system looking and functioning as an entire healthy ecosystem
" let alone a no filter system "

please by all means update if im wrong
I have researched this Natural filtration alot

anybody who claims it works either doesn't share there reef
or its not up running that way for very long.
Due to the hobbyist getting clue.

Dude, yes. I have read a ton of people saying they do it, with no photos of their reef OR its like a pico 1-3gallon which I can understand. Makes me wonder though. I doubt I will take that route.

No worries. Just trying to prove that you can have a tank without mechanical filtration. If you want a natural filtration, you might want to look into ATS filtration. Which I had it on all my tank build not until I got into SPS dominated tank.
You can also get away without any filtration by not over feeding your tank.
Saw your nano build and really no need to add a sump for that size. If you are keeping mostlly softies, weekly WC is all you ever need.
And for the uncured rock and dry sand, I like to start clean setup on all tanks. Don't have to worry about unknown pest and hitchhikers. Eventually, they will become alive.
Pictures? Well the tank was only setup for few months and sold it to another reefer and was very happy for all the goodies were in the tank.

Huh, been in this hobby for something like eight years and I never heard that mechanical filtration was a big deal. Maybe I'm just ignorant but most folks do LR plus whatever reactors they prefer? Or is it just a pico/small nano problem?

What do you consider mechanical filtration???? I have my 6g running and the only thing I have is a small bag of carbon and some foam, is that what you would consider mechanical? I don't have any reactors, no skimmer, no sump but it is an AIO.

My most successful tank was just ran by a healthy fuge. Giant ball of chaeto, live rock and good flow in the tank. Didn't have no filter sock or reactors. Started out with a skimmer then ditched it after a month cause I hated the noise. My tank ran on auto pilot great. Ran for I'm guessing 6 months perfectly before I upgraded. It was 30 gallons though. So not quite a nano.

      hey Jason
does it have a sponge collecting and filter debris out of the water in the back of your A.I.O system?
if yes you have mechanical filtration.
